David has over 30 years’ experience in the Financial Services Industry. He has been a member of the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table, and has qualified for many other industry awards and honours.
David is a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), a Chartered Financial Consultant (CHFC) and a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU). He is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). To earn these designations, David had to complete approved educational programs, pass rigorous examinations and meet stringent experience requirements. He also adheres to a professional Code of Ethics and he fulfills annual continuing education requirements, so you can be sure that he is aware of current planning strategies and financial trends. Together, these designations indicate David’s broad range of expertise. He can help his clients with all aspects of the financial planning process, and he also is knowledgeable enough to recognize when to bring in a specialist. David has been an active part of Advocis, his professional association and was its London president in 1986. He is also a member of the Financial Planners Standards Council (FPSC).
David is also a driving force behind the Make-A-Wish Foundation, one of the premier children’s wish granting organizations in Canada. He founded the Southwestern Ontario branch in 1985, and served as the local president for 8 years. In 1987, with two others, David established the Make-A-Wish foundation of Canada and he was instrumental in expanding the foundation across the country. David served on Make-A-Wish boards locally and nationally until 2002, and he has been involved with establishing new chapters and chairing fund-raising committees. He stays involved annually on a fund raising basis.
David belongs to the London Hunt and Country Club. David golfs regularly, and while he is a respectable 14 handicap, he believes his handicap should be lower. David also plays hockey with the “Huff N’ Puff” Old Timers Hockey League. David enjoys boating, water skiing, snow skiing and tennis. He and his family also love spending their summer holidays in Muskoka.
David’s family is a priority. His wife Judy was also involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation for 12 years. They have three boys, Andy, Jon, and Will and two grandchildren, Gage and Avery.
